Why Your Purpose Needs To Drive Your Business; With Jussi Luukkonen & Dave Vrijsen - #13

We had a truly international cohort on this call, as each member of Dave’s family were born in a different country, as were the members of Jussi's family!

One of the stand-out things from this episode was that both Dave and Jussi agreed for a business to be 6 stars they need to be led by purpose. If they weren't driven by purpose then they would be 5 stars 'at best', and in Jussi's words they would make some profits but die off and not last.

This is another episode that could have kept going!

Here are some highlights:

10:10 - the blue ocean strategy was a great start

12:55 - The erosion of institutions

21:10 - How Covid has shifted internal needs inside organisations to develop

24:00 - How you can survive the tsunami that’s coming

26:19 - Where leaders need to start with their transformation

30:58 - How people can feel more fulfilled

36:41 - What engagement in action looks like

39:08 - A company that’s 1300 years old

41:17 - The link between business and nature

Plus

Jussi throws down a challenge right at the end that Aveline agrees to!

Sit back and enjoy!

Here is some information on both guests and where you can find them:

Jussi Luukkonen

Jussi has been coaching people for decades. First as a theatre director, as a leader and then as a successful entrepreneur.

His philosophy is that everybody has an infinite potential for greatness. As a coach, Jussi helps his customers to reveal and use that potential.

Jussi is also a published author, with his seventh book “Upstreaming - How to manage your boss, but still lead your team” being released in mid-2021. It is a survival guide for first time and front-line managers.

Something Interesting About You:

Originally I was trained as a theatre director and the last play I directed was The Tempest by Shakespeare in 1989 at Ad Astra Theatre which I founded in 1985. The theatre is still going strong but the current crew thinks that I am dead and some sort of imaginary being.

About the Podcast

Mission Activated
Conversations and reflections on living your purpose and leading from alignment
Mission Activated is a podcast about living with purpose and leading from alignment.
Hosted by Aveline Clarke, founder of 6 Star Leaders, the show moves between two kinds of episodes: conversations with people doing meaningful work in their own way, and solo reflections drawn from her work coaching conscious leaders through what gets in the way and what's possible on the other side.
This isn't a podcast about hustle, performance, or scale at all costs. It's about the inner work that makes the outer work matter. Self-trust. Clean communication. Owning your part. Becoming someone others can safely navigate by.
If you're tired of leadership content that's loud and shallow, and you're looking for something quieter, more honest, and more useful, this is for you.
New episodes fortnightly. Stay aligned.
